CCF
In May 2017 Dame Allan’s Schools launched a Royal Marines Combined Cadet Force (CCF), open to both boys and girls.
The CCF parade every Tuesday evening from 16:00 for 2 hours, with an additional field day and Contingent Camp throughout the school year. A wide range of courses and camps are open to all cadets, from leadership training to ocean sailing. Summer camps are available in July when cadets spend a week with the Royal Marine Youth Team at the Commando Training Centre near Exeter.
Last year, we were honoured to welcome the Lord Lieutenant of Tyne and Wear, Mrs Susan Winfield, CVO, OBE, to the Schools in May. During an inspection of our CCF Royal Marines Contingent, she presented four cadets with promotional stripes on behalf of Her Majesty The Queen.
“My favourite thing about CCF is the opportunities it offers, the things you can do, from adventure training to live firing, no other club offers. CCF has developed my leadership skills most of all, it teaches you how to not just command but be an effective team leader.”

Becoming a cadet within the Royal Marines Combined Cadet Force can be a life-changing experience. Pupils quickly build important skills like teamwork, confidence, and self-discipline, as well as having the opportunity to take on leadership roles. CCF offers pupils a chance to get to know a wide-range of people from across the school, and work together to take on challenges. Being a cadet involves physical training. Whilst we do not expect cadets to be top athletes, a good level of physical fitness is required. More importantly, commitment and mental toughness are necessary.
Being a cadet allows pupils to take part in a huge range of exciting and adventurous, military-themed activities. Whether completing an obstacle course, or learning to sail, there is something for everyone.
